VIDEO — New Year’s Day Snookin’

Kwanza spent the morning testing out some new Live Target swimbaits and proceeded to catch a couple of hefty snook in the process.

I spent New Year’s morning in the bed. A rarity for me and something I was happy to do for a change. That is until I saw this video posted by Kwanza Henderson, an Old Town Kayaks pro staff member  and bonafide kayak fishing guru.

This was evident in the video. Kwanza spent the morning testing out some new Live Target swimbaits and proceeded to catch a couple of hefty snook in the process.

”I was on an emotional roller-coaster”, said Kwanza. “I wasn’t catching anything on the Live Target mullet popper and I pedaled for miles before I caught those fish. The lure got hit a few times but they missed the hook. I was frustrated, but determined to catch a fish.

This led to the message of the video. The two rules in life. Rule #1 – never give up. Rule #2 – Always remember rule #1.

”I felt if I give up now I may lose that ‘time running out/winning shot’ moment,” Kwanza said with a grin. ”I stood up and threw right under a dock. That’s when I heard that pop and screaming drag. All I could think about is that I came too far to lose that fish! Once I landed the first fish I forgot I was sick and my adrenaline gave me that extra energy. I did the same exact thing to another dock and bam. Another one in the net!”

It seems like the moral of the story is clear. Never give up and don’t sleep in when you could be fishing.
